Are you an artist in need of art reference? A photographer looking for that perfect shot? Wolf Park’s one-day photography seminars are the answer. Seminars begin at 9:30 am with a lecture and slideshow on wolf behavior, basic wolf photography, and a review of how to behave around the animals. There will be a short break for lunch followed by three hours of supervised photography inside the enclosure with our main pack of wolves. Seminars end at approximately 5:00 pm.
Our socialized wolves will allow photographers to get close enough to touch them, so there will be many opportunities for portraits and closeups. Our staff photographer will guide you through good photo opportunities and have the wolves “pose” for you. There will also be opportunity for “candid” and action photographs as well. Any camera, from professional to disposable, is acceptable; if you have the option, a 28-300 mm lens seems to work well. Bring LOTS of film/flash cards!!
Already know how to photograph wildlife? You may be interested in our One Day Photo Shoots instead!
Participants must be 18 years of age, and physically comfortable interacting with the animals. Wolves may jump or lean. Sick or injured participants will not be allowed in the enclosure. Participants must wear long pants and closed- toed shoes, no earrings or perfume, to enter the wolf enclosure. No tripods are allowed; the wolves like to chew on them. Space is limited!! Sign up EARLY!!
If friends or family accompany you, they may watch the classroom portion of the program, and observe through the fence, but they may not enter the enclosure. Any guests must be over eighteen or supervised at all times. Please do not leave your children unattended while you are in with the wolves.
Seminars are rarely canceled, but we will cancel for severe weather. If we do, or if you cannot attend the seminar, your fees may be applied towards another photography seminar. Photography seminars will be held in light snow or drizzle, so bring protection for your camera (a towel or plastic bag is great) and come take pictures!
Understand that participating in a seminar does not imbue anyone with authority to speak on behalf of Wolf Park.
In the event of participant cancellation at least 48 hours in advance, monies for this seminar will not be refunded, but may be applied to a future photography seminar.
Wolf Park reserves the right to cancel a seminar if there are fewer than 5 participants registered as of 30 days before the start of the seminar. In the case of cancellation, we will refund registration fees in full, or the participant can choose to transfer into a different seminar.
